Faith

He :So,What did you pray for ?
Me : Oh,I prayed for this ,for that ,blah-blah.[ I'm just plain greedy in my prayers.] .So,what did you pray for ?
He : Nothing . I know He would give me a lot more than that ,anyways.I don’t want to reduce His blessings.
Now,thats Faith. I lack it.So much.
I have heard this too. My take on this is different. God is like our parent. A child can and in fact should ask God for anything she wants.
There are two things in the way god bestows for our prayers. One is ‘Priyam’ and the other is ‘Hitam’. Priyam is what we love to have - desired things. ‘Hitam’ is something good for us - we may not like it though. (For example, every kid likes ice cream but no kid wants to study his lessons
).
Because we don’t know the future, we may ask something that we want to happen - but He only knows whether it is good or bad. Anyway, as his children we can ask him anything - he will do only good for us…
Hmm.. pretty long comment, hope I make sense :))
Srikanth :Yes,that made a lot of sense. I am sometimes quite envious of the kindof blind faith that a few people have in the Almighty. They are the lucky ones who would not let their life be overtaken by insecurities and fears and worries
Hope I get there,sometime !
Sang, Though I don’t want to get into a believer - nonbeliever debate, I have only one thing to say on this:
Nonbelievers can also be termed as having”blind faith” - the reason being the believer is able to see god in everything - whereas the athiest relies his/her mortal brain - puts faith on his/her brain and judges there is no god - thus atheist is not able to see god! so atheists are the ones with blind faith :))
“The bigotry of the nonbeliever is for me nearly as funny as the bigotry of the believer” - said somebody who used their brain a little too much :))))
