Fun,fearless?Really ?

Sania Mirza gets the Cosmopolitan Fun,Fearless,Female Sportsperson Award for 2008..for not paying up her dues of 2 lakhs for her security cover to the government. What has she really done ,other than flaunting short skirts and endorsing stuff this year ? Has she played any tennis ??

Realizing “Khoon Chala”

One of those songs that you would truly appreciate only on seeing it being brought to life on screen.Recently watched the second half of Rang De Basanti, for the first time.Yea,people like me do still exist, who haven’t yet watched RDB.And ,just about managed to watch half of it while surfing TV a few days back.

I never felt RDB had great music, till then.I have no clue why I was so filled with emotion watching this song .My eyes suddenly welled up with tears.Jeez,i thought I’ve gone bonkers ,crying over some movie song. But ARR’s music and the way the song was picturized was so powerful, man.Together, both just slightly wrenched my heart.Feeling sorry for a situation that hasn’t affected you directly.

On that context,I don’t buy this concept that we should be the change we need to see in the country, sometimes.Definitely not if it means you have to give up your life for it !! I pay tax.I have every right to live a slightly self-centred life ,happily, worrying only about home loans and vacation packages.Ask me to not litter in public places.Ask me not to bribe government officials.Ask me not to violate traffic rules.Ask me to report anything suspicious. But do not ask me to risk everything near and dear to me by taking a public stand against long rooted evils.By being the first one to publicly defy things that have been going on for ages in our country. That should be the government’s job.The police’s job.Not mine .

The public’s memory is so short-lived.So is their anger. What has candle light marches and pledges led to,so far ? A few ministers resigning and two neighbouring countries playing the blame game…and impending war ??? Sad.

Bye-Bye 2008.God give me the strength to change what I can, accept what I can’t and pray that You change that which we can’t.

Tch.

I feel sorry for England. Its no fun winning all the time ,sometimes.
How did the Aussies put up with it all these years ?

Enlightened

I suddenly realise that no one reads my blog but me.And that I shouldn’t be asking incredibly stupid questions .Sigh.Welcome to the real world.

Still, speaking to myself, why is there a surcharge for infants on flights ? Especially when they neither get a seat nor do they really enjoy the flight.I do not get it at all.

Incredibly Stupid

Looks like the Hindi Ghajini would be an atta copy of the Tamizh one.Except for the buxom Nayantara.Would be more believable to see the lanky Jiah Khan running away from a 100 mill workers and beating them to it at least.

Still remember watching this movie with friends at the Bangalore multiplex .Made memorable by friends coming out after the movie and taking our pics and saying “I’m going to write Kill her on this one”.

I hope the scene where a brilliant policeman deduces that a 10 digit number on Surya’s body is definitely a mobile phone number is not included in Hindi.

What are the most incredibly stupid scenes in movies, that makes you laugh even today ?

The aftermath

I think news channels spread more terror than the terrorists themselves do.I’m fed up of switching on to ndtv/times now/headlines to keep seeing “Breaking News” like Firing in Hyderabad,Hijack Alert at all airports,Explosives found at Hospital,Air-borne terror strike expected and the likes.

I have to go to Chennai in the near future.I’m still contemplating my mode of travel. If its flight,I might get hijacked and find myself on the way to destroying myself by hitting LIC building in Chennai[ Though the chances are slim that terrorists would hijack a one hour flight plane. They may not have time to unpack all their guns and bombs].If I take a train, there may be bombs here and there.I have no desire to burn horrifically to death.

And,with all due respect,I still don’t get it when people say we should try to eliminate terror at the individual level.Like how ??I neither have a bulletproof vest [ sigh.Cannot trust even that in India, can we?] nor the license to shoot.About voting the right people to power, shouldn’t the right people be the candidates ?On one of the talk shows,Raveena Tandon had suggested very articulately that if the people think, they can even change the Constitution to bring in laws to make sure that all politicians who come to power should neither hold a criminal record, nor have been into illegal stuff blah blah. That sounds good.

Other than that, how do I take on terrorists at the individual level? By just taking a pledge, can I change anything ? This question is being asked in all earnestness – How,exactly, can I ,just me,eliminate terror ??

Any answers, anybody ? I’m willing to go the extra mile.I want my little one to be safe.I don’t want to her just jump the wagon and leave the country.I want her to grow up here. And love it.

Top Singer,Super Singer et al

Is it only me or does anybody else think that one of the judges ,Krish,on Raj TV’s Top singer is kinda cute ?Is he a singer ? what has he sung ?Though the programme’s contestants seem just so-so.Not the kindof quality you would expect from a singing competion thats giving an apartment worth 1 crore to the winner.

On the other hand ,Vijay TV’s Airtel Super Singer contestants blew me off ! Awesome singing man.Especially there was this girl called Renu whose voice literally was dripping with honey,it was so sweet.Got to start watching this one regularly.
