God save..

Yesterday’s German class was a riot. For the instructor. While a bunch of us Indiens tried to form German sentences with our highly limited knowledge.Surely she would have gone home and laughed her lungs out.

German sounds like a nice language but when it takes something like “Entschuldigung” to say “excuse me”[I'm out of breath],I’d rather not say it at all.

It doesn’t matter

Read a nice quote today – “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent”.Something like that.So true.Inferiority comes from within.I mean, you can just brush aside anything anyone says about you and live life your way.As long as it isn’t bothering them directly.Like, your freedom ends where their nose starts. Why the hell does it matter what the other person thinks ?

But,feeling discriminated,is that too a figment of our imagination sometimes ? Especially, being in an alien country, where you kindof stand out ( Being Indian is ezhuthi-ottufied on the forehead.),sometimes you tend to overanalyse small reactions.A muffled laugh in the tram and you wonder if its you they are talking about.Your sandals? Your color ?What is it ? If the lady at the counter uncourteously shoves the bill and the change towards you ,you wonder if its just ‘cos you dont belong to this country.Or ,perhaps she just had a hard day.If she doesnt wish you like she does to the other customers, you wonder whether its ‘cos of your race.[Its a different thing that in India,in supermarkets ,the counter people treat you like dust. Most of the time.Unless you're pretty or brawny.]

Anyways ,who cares a damn ?[ I don't.Thats why I wrote this post ;-) ] .I shall assume,discrimination is my imagination.

Scorching !

Is it my imagination or does the sun really appear bigger ,from Germany, than in India ??Thats the sun from right outside our door step.

Big or small, definitely the sunrays are so much more intense here.Like sitting in an oven.

Germany-A Livealogue

Yea,when there could be travelogues, heck, well,I’ll write a livealogue.Ok ,this is specific to living in Dusseldorf though. But ,from what I’ve seen, things dont look that different anywhere else either.

So,what are the things that were alien to me before I landed in Deutschland?Travelling in public transportation.I can count the number of times I’ve commuted by public transport in India. As far as I remember,it was either my father’s scooter, later his car, autos, friend’s cars, bikes, our car,yea thats about it.I must have travelled by bus lesser than ten times.

This has totally changed here in Dusseldorf.Trams are one excellent mode of public transport.High frequency, good connectivity and above all ,clean and spacious and well, overall,a very comfy way to commute.

Clear timetables at every stop about the timings, the route and the stops of the different trams just make it so much more easier. You possibly couldnt lose your way with these around.

So,Trams- A big thumbs up.

Going to definitely miss them when I get back.
